We’ve noticed a lot of you have been submitting DOC. and DOCX. formats and that is not what we want.
The pros of RTF are as follows:
- In the event another editor does not have Word Processor, the file can be opened up wherever.
- Any special characters or font always remain when saved as RTF.
- There wouldn’t be a possibility that it would open up to a bunch of weird symbols and boxes. You know what we’re talking about– the one’s that look like this “”
- We won’t get that sketchy dialogue box that says, “The file [name of file] cannot be opened because there are problems with the content.. The file is corrupt and cannot be opened.” And then we click okay, praying your computers hold no viruses but Word warns us yet again like an omen, “Word found unreadable content in [name of file]. Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you trust the source of this document, click Yes.” Do we really need two warnings for potential harm to our beloved computers? And would you really trust us off the bat? Ask yourself these questions.
So, please.. follow the guidelines and submit as RTF if you wish to attach a file. Writers read and writers especially read the guidelines.
